PS3 Blunder
Check out this news story in which Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) made the mistake of offering a $1200 bounty on a photograph of an unsold PS3 on a store shelf. The reactions were swift, and fairly amusing. Back home, at the local Best Buy, I saw a pile of PS3 boxes the same height as me sitting in the middle of the store. That's probably close to 12 boxes ( I didn't stop to count at the time). What's that come out to be? Well, 12, carry the one, and, um ... $14,400. How cool would that be if he went through with this. Not likely though. EGM, the magazine in which the article appeared, was quick to note that the interview was conducted in early January, when the scalpers were still buying them like hotcakes and marking them up $400 on eBay. I won't be keeping an eye out for my check.
